CF to 40-pin IDE card drive
40-pin IDE 3.5" card drive with 1 front Compact Flash type II slot

Note: This model can also be used on Akai MPC2000XL drum machines or the like that has an IDE expansion port. ( For MPC2000XL, please use OS 1.20 and up. Check it out at http://www.akaipro.com/supportos.php) 
Check your system. You may need a 44pin-to-40pin converter.

• 40-pin IDE connector and a 4-pin power connector.  Optional 44pin-to-40pin cable is not included.

• For model IIC: Hot swappable & bootable.  Hot swappable under DOS, Windows 98/ME/2000/XP (Needs software. Please check note below.). No driver is needed for Linux. 

• This model can be used on other non-Windows-based systems, such as an Akai MPC2000XL, but it's NOT hot-swappable!

• Supports up to UDMA-4 mode

Model IIC/ R312XX00I50XBH03R reader is not natively hot-swappable, and it works hot-swappable with software drivers which is included. The drivers support Windows 98/2000/XP for its hot-swapping.  This reader can also support DOS 6.22 OS by executing the following software @: http://www.apro-tw.com/Software/DOS HOT SWAP.zip. 

This model can be used on other non-Windows-based systems, such as an Akai MPC2000XL, but it's NOT hot-swappable!

1)  How to connect the cables?

With  attached ribbon cable, please plug the 2-pin connector into the pin - J1 on the card reader and plug in the 40-pin flat cable connector (see the pictures below).

Or you can just use the standard ATA-100/133 IDE cable line.

Note: pin-J1 function

It is just the circuit design for delaying the reset signal so that if there are some compatibility issues between the IDE card reader and your built-in IDE bus CD/DVD ROM on your system,  you have to use this IDE 2-pin cable.  Plugging in the 2-pin connector to the pin - J1 on the card reader will solve the issue.

 If there is no any compatibility problem, please just use the standard ATA-100/133 IDE cable line and ignore the 2-pin connector.

The 5V power comes from the existing power supply on your system.
